An easier way to deal with a large number of boards

As folks use Kerika over a long time, and for a variety of purposes, they may end up with dozens or more Task Boards and Whiteboards in their account.

One easy way to keep your focus on the most important boards is to use the Favorites feature: the Home screen has separate tabs for Favorites and All Others:

We have made it even easier with two new filters:

  1. Show only Active Boards: this means that only boards that are not in the Archive or have been deleted will be shown.|
  2. Show all types of Boards: you can choose to see only Task Boards, only Whiteboards, or both.

Enjoy.

Dragging tasks into hidden columns

The ability to hide (collapse) columns is very useful when a board has many columns, and not all of them are immediately important. We have now made it easier to use hidden columns: if you want to drag-and-drop a task into a hidden column, just hold it over the hidden column for a couple of seconds and the column will open to let you drop the task into it.

Dragging columns

Did you know that you can easily rearrange the columns on a Task Board by pressing down on the column name for a couple of seconds? This makes the column “draggable” which means you can then move it easily to the right or left to change its position within the board.

Easier to mark an entire board as read

Sometimes you want to mark an entire board as read, for example when you don’t have the time to catch up on all the changes that took place (and maybe you don’t care?)

There’s an easy way to do this now: from your Home screen in the Kerika app, right-click on any board card and you will find a new “Mark all tasks as read” option in the dialog that pops-up:

It’s easier now to see how many checklist items remain

We made a small UI improvement that makes it easier now for you to see how many Checklist items (subtasks) remain open on a card:

A number will appear next to the Checklist icon when you are looking at tasks on a board: this is the number of open Checklist items for that task. We don’t show the total number because it’s the remaining ones that are more important, but if you hover over the number a tooltip will show you that as well:

It’s now even easier to catch up on changes in attachments and checklists

The orange arrow that appears at the top or bottom of a column when there are unread updates that are out of view has proved to be a very useful and popular feature, so we have extended the concept to work inside of tasks (cards) as well: if there is an unread change to a checklist item, or attachment, that’s out of view for you, an orange arrow will appear to help guide to you it:

The way these orange arrows work is very intuitive: just click on it to have the view scroll up automatically to show the next unread checklist item or attachment.

Another way to stay on top of what’s happening

When you are working on several boards, we want to make sure you don’t miss any updates that might be happening elsewhere in Kerika.

There’s a new feature that helps with that: if you have open boards (or templates) with unread updates, the drop-down on the “board switcher” appears in orange:

When you click on the OPEN BOARDS button, Kerika will show you all your open boards, with the updated ones highlighted in orange:

This should help you stay on top of what’s happening across your entire Kerika world: you don’t need to switch to different boards just to see if there’s anything new.

We made it even easier to see what’s changed inside a Task

When working on our Task Boards, users will now find it even easier than before to see exactly what changed inside a task (card): new attachments, for example, are flagged like this:

And that’s true for new chat:

And for checklist items:

We know Kerika is used for some really large projects with thousands of cards, so we are always looking to see how we can make it super easy for distributed and global teams to keep up with what their colleagues are doing.
